The National SAF Roadmap has been brought forward in consultation with a large number of Dutch companies, government and (knowledge) institutions. The aim of the roadmap is to provide a Dutch perspective on the opportunity and challenges for SAF production and use.

On Thursday April 10th, Platform Renewable Fuels organised a meeting in Den Haag to present the findings and recommendations from the Mass balance market research on renewable fuels for transport.
Neste has started the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in its renewable refinery in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The refinery has been modified to enable up to 500,000 tonnes of SAF production per year.

IFP Energies Nouvelles published a report commissioned by CMA CGM providing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to evaluate the greenhouse emissions of alternative marine fuels with a focus on methanol and ammonia.

The report estimates that over 2,800 million dry metric tonnes of sustainable biomass supplies is currently produced from the 62 nations accounted in the assessment. Current biomass production in Brazil, the USA, China, Indonesia and India is estimated to be the highest.

The Platform identified double-sided auctions a possible mechanism to address the disconnect between renewable fuel supply- and demand-markets. The Platform is working on the publication of a white paper to call for an industry-led initiative to organise an auction platform.
