Seminar
BioMob #4: Biomass mobilisation
Background
Platform Renewable Fuels invites you to join the 4th edition of the Biomass Mobilisation (BioMob) event where we will be discussing new propositions for biomass mobilisation that consider integration with sustainable land use practices, circular use of residues and dedicated energy crops, and multi-valorisation into multiple end-products including food, fuels and materials.
As many biobased alternatives to fossil fuels are derived from existing forestry and agri-food systems, the bioeconomy, more than many other governance areas, bridges many critical debates around climate, energy, land use and agriculture and environmental and social impacts.
At the same time, if done well, the bio-economy likely more than other technological innovations can enable social justice in communities, provide opportunities for environmental benefits for the agricultural sector and is essential for carbon removal.
With more sustainable practices of the land, more biomass can be unlocked and provide many other socio economical and environmental benefits. Think for instance of the use of intermediate crops in the crop rotation that can increase biodiversity and soil conditions. Or planting dedicated energy crops on in marginal land to rehabilitate the soil.
Join us in the thinking on how we can unlock more options for biomass mobilisation with integrated sustainable land use strategies.
