New 2nd generation bioethanol project announcement from GrandBio and RYAM

A new second generation bio-ethanol project has been announced for the production of sustainable aviation fuel and biochemicals. Two companies from the United States; biochemical and biofuel company GrandBio LLC joined forces with global leader in cellulose speciality products Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM). They have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore the development of a small-scale commercial facility  for the production of cellulosic sustainable aviation fuel in Georgia.

This is a great example of two companies coming together for the production of both renewable fuels and biomaterials, exploring their complementarity capabilities to reach scalable solutions. This facility will have the potential to convert a large type of cellulosic biomass including softwoods into clean cellulosic sugars and second-generation ethanol which will be upgraded into SAF.
