European Commission: Call for evidence of an impact assessment - Update of the governance of the Energy Union and Climate Action

Background

A call for evidence from the European Commission has been opened to provide feedback on the current rules for governance in the EU and Member States from the regulation on the Energy Union and Climate Action (Governance Regulation). This regulation has established several governance mechanisms to help meet the objectives and climate targets in the EU for instance set in the European Climate Law and Fit for 55 package.

In a review report on the regulation from the Commission, several areas for further improvements were identified such as turning the National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs) into real investment plans that efficiently direct public and private fundings  thus fostering investment predictability, consumer confidence, innovation, and market growth for clean technologies. Other improvements indicated are the need to accelerate coordinated Member State actions and increase coherence with other policy ares such as industry, agriculture, climate resilience, just transition and environment.

Provide feedback

The consultation is open to all who wish to express their views on and share their experience with the functioning of the Governance Regulation. You can now submit your feedback here. The deadline for submission is March 12 2026 (midnight Brussels time).
