Lunch & Learn: From CO2 to Renewable Fuel - The future of e-methanol
Background
Replacing fossil fuels with sustainable alternatives is one of society’s biggest challenges. The cars, planes, and ships we rely on are still largely powered by gasoline, diesel, and kerosene – and global fuel consumption in transportation continues to grow. To accelerate the energy transition, we need a mix of solutions such as electrification, hydrogen, and biofuels. Yet these alone won’t be sufficient. A promising development in this landscape is the rise of e-fuels: synthetic fuels produced using green electricity, captured CO₂ and hydrogen.
In this online Lunch & Learn session by Rene Kleijntjens, researcher Renewable Energy Carriers at MNEXT, you’ll learn:
- What e-fuels are and what makes e-methanol unique
- How CO₂ can be used as a raw material for producing e-methanol
- The new MNEXT methanol process (purpose and team)
- Key steps in the project: Waste CO2 to fuel
Why join?
Because you use fuels in many different ways, often more than you realize. By rethinking the fuels we rely on, their resources, their environmental footprint, and how we use them, we can all contribute to the transition toward sustainable transport fuels.
