Repsol pioneers production of 100% renewable gasoline at industrial scale

Repsol announcement
In October 2025, Spanish company, Repsol announced that it achieved a new technological breakthrough with the first industrial scale production of 100% renewable gasoline at one of its industrial production sites in Tarragona in Spain.
The renewable gasoline produced by Repsol is made entirely from renewable resources and is a drop-in fuel meaning that it is fully compatible with gasoline vehicles without any modifications. In addition, the renewable gasoline, Nexa 95 Gasoline achieves net CO2 emission reduction by more than 70% compared to a conventional gasoline. Repsol aims to have the renewable gasoline available in 30 service stations in Spain by the end of 2025.
This new development shows that renewable liquid fuels are viable solutions for combustion vehicles whether gasoline, diesel, or hybrid. Renewable gasoline can already be used in gasoline vehicles offering a solution to reduce emissions in the transport sector.
It is important to recognise the role of 100% renewable fuels In order to meet targets set by individual Member States and the European Union. To accelerate their development of renewable fuels, long-term policy targets must be established.
