Platform Member SkyNRG announces Financial Close and start of construction of Sustainable Aviation Fuel plant in Delfzijl the Netherlands

Platform Member and leader in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) company, SkyNRG has announced the financial close and start of construction of its first Sustainable Aviation Fuel plant called DSL-01 at the Delfzijl chemical part in the north of the Netherlands.

Once operational, the DSL-01 is expected to produce 100,000 tonnes of SAF each year and 35,000 tonnes of sustainable by-products such as bio-based propane, butane and naphtha. The plant will use a hydroprocessed esters and fatty acids (HEFA) conversion pathway and is expected to start mid 2028.

The approval of permits and financial agreements mark a significant milestone concluding a seven year development period. The project is also supported by a large constortium group of international investors, commecial lenders and legal advisors. This shows the continuous efforts and collaborations needed for such a project to come online which Platform Renewable Fuels hopes to see more and more to in the future to defossilise the aviation sector.
