PHB presentatie: Breaking down de prijs van de brandstof aan de pomp

Backgound

The Dutch Platform Renewable Fuels was invited to present during the National Conference for Sustainable Mobility on November 17. Executive Director, Loes Knotter gave a presentation on how various instruments, annual obligations, the emissions trading system and the role of excise duty are incorporated into the pump price.

The analysis is based on several assumptions: a situation in which the price increase of ERE and ETS is controlled and what if the prices of ETS 2 and EREs rise sharply in the market mechanism.

The main takeaway from this price analysis is that introducing a different rate in excise duty for renewable fuels makes the price much more attractive compared to fossil fuels. Current regulations create a strong link between the price of fossil fuels and renewable fuels. The question is how we can decouple the prices of renewable fuels from those of fossil fuels, so that renewable fuels are cheaper and therefore the first choice for end users.
